Feeding of dairy cows according to their dietary needs
High-yielding cows have special needs with regard to feeding. The nutrient supply according to individual requirements during the first weeks of lactation is very important in terms of economy and of nutritional physiology. Often the energy and protein intake during this period fall behind the actual demand owing to milk production. In this case an insufficient supply of energy and amino acids leads to performance deficiencies often accompanied by liver damage and reproductive disorders.
