Carotenoids have many physiological functions. They have been linked to oxidation-preventing mechanisms and enhance the immune system.
An intensive coloration of e.g. egg yolk, beaks and legs are linked to high amounts of carotenoids and xanthophylls and are signalling a healthy animal. As animals are not able to synthesise these carotenoids they must be supplied with the feed.

Avizant Red is a standardised pigment concentrate, containing the red coloring carotenoids capsanthin and capsorubin from paprika sources.
