Lohmann Animal Health International’s McRee Honored by N.C. State University

Veterinarian receives award for mentoring students

 

WINSLOW, Maine (May 24, 2010) —Lohmann Animal Health International Technical Services Veterinarian Andy McRee recently received the eighth annual Ben Harrington Food Animal Student Mentorship Award presented  by the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

 

McRee was honored for exemplary service as a role model and mentor for veterinary medicine students at N.C. State’s College.

 

McRee, who  earned a bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University, has worked with students throughout his career since graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992 and completing an avian medicine internship there in 1993.

 

Over the last 10 years, McRee participated as a guest lecturer, sponsor and speaker for the Department of Poultry Science and the College of Veterinary Medicine Poultry Club. Participants in the Poultry Health Management Residency program have accompanied McRee on field visits to poultry operations which allowed the residents to meet and work with industry veterinary and production personnel. He has also discussed career paths and available opportunities in the poultry industry with the students.
